The organization endorsed Michael Bennet’s reelection campaign this week, recognizing Michael for his work pushing for more equitable immigration policies and practices.
DENVER – The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition Action Fund (CIRC Action Fund), a group that advocates for fair, humane, and workable public policies, recently announced its endorsement of Senator Michael Bennet’s reelection campaign. The group recognized his long history of fighting for comprehensive immigration reform in the United States.
“Senator Michael Bennet has proven he can connect with Colorado’s most marginalized communities,” said mobilization manager Chris Davis. “As the sister organization of the largest immigrant rights coalition, we at CIRC Action Fund appreciate Senator Bennet’s intent to be a leader in the fight for immigrant rights, and we’re excited to give him our endorsement.”
CIRC Action Fund endorses political candidates that will be champions in the fight for immigrant rights. Their endorsement this year comes as the future of DACA remains uncertain, and as the Republican party continues to be consumed by hateful, anti-immigrant rhetoric. Their endorsement of Michael demonstrates to Coloradans that he will continue to fight for comprehensive immigration reform to fix our broken immigration system.
Michael has been a leader in the Senate on immigration reform. He was part of the “Gang of Eight,” a bipartisan group of senators that authored and passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill through the Senate. The bill included a tough but fair pathway to citizenship, protections for DREAMers, $40 billion for smart border security and a modernized visa system. He wants to go back to Washington this November so he can continue his work on comprehensive immigration reform.
In a press release announcing the group’s candidate endorsements for the 2022 midterm cycle, the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition Action Fund wrote the following:
CIRC Action Fund proudly announces 21 candidate endorsements ahead of the 2022 general elections
DENVER, CO – After an extensive interview process by staff members and review by our 2022 board of directors, the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) Action Fund have endorsed the following candidates for the general election cycle of 2022. Our endorsement process ensures we consider the issues that impact immigrant communities in Colorado most, and our voter engagement program focuses on reaching BIPOC voters in key districts to increase
voter turnout and empower those voters in the democratic process.
These candidates truly align with our core progressive mission and values, and we believe they will be exceptional champions in the fight for immigrant rights in Colorado and across the United States. Their impact in their respective offices could mean the push for more equitable policies and practices, and hopefully, a pathway to citizenship for all. With the uncertain status of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade and the hateful, anti-immigrant rhetoric that has consumed the Republican Party’s messaging, it is clear the immigrant population remains one of the most vulnerable in the United States.
