Press Release

Wednesday, May 11, 2022

Yesterday, End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund (ECU // LAV), a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group with more than four million members nationwide, released its 2022 legislative scorecard, which recognizes the members of Congress who are fighting to protect American Democracy. Michael was recognized with an A+ legislative grade for his resiliency in pushing back against Washington corruption and returning politics to the people.

“The campaign is energized to see Michael being recognized for his work to ensure our political system supports hard-working Coloradans and not just big corporations,” said Bennet for Colorado spokesperson, Georgina Beven.

The announcement applauded Michael’s leadership in spearheading anti-corruption efforts in Congress. “For too long, dark money has flooded and overwhelmed our political system. Billionaire and corporate backed groups have pushed policies that favor their wealthy donors at the expense of hard-working Americans. That’s why we are so grateful for Senator Bennet, who’s stood up to the rich and powerful dark money groups that have too much influence in Washington, and why we gave him an A+ on our 2022 scorecard,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller.

As a Senator for Colorado, Michael is working to ban members of Congress from becoming lobbyists and trading stocks. He continues to fight for legislation that aims to prevent presidential abuses of power, restore checks and balances, and set restrictions on big money’s influence in politics. He is also the only Senator seeking reelection this cycle refusing to accept money from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists.

“Because of his commitment to rooting out corruption in Washington, limiting the power lobbyists have in Congress, preventing election sabotage, protecting the freedom to vote, ending dark money, and stopping egregious partisan gerrymandering that denies voters fair and equal representation, Senator Bennet received an A+,” the ECU // LAV noted in its announcement.

Each year, ECU // LAV announces its legislative scorecard and bases its individual grades of leaders in both chambers who prioritized passing legislation aimed at protecting the freedom to vote, ending discrimination at the ballot box, stopping the dominance of big money, and restoring ethics and accountability in government.
